Italian style deli and restaurant chain
Hard Not To Like
02/01/2008 When this place first opened in Chiswick I was determined not to like it. The concept of a faux Italian chain from which Antonio Carluccio himself had long sold out of seemed like a waste of a good spot in Chiswick. Basically I was expecting an Italian version of Cafe Rouge. The reality has been somewhat different - although the hard surfaces make the acoustics in the restaurant a disaster otherwise it scores very highly as long as you are after a quick meal rather than a gourmet experiences. We've had delicious pasta sauces from the deli and the restaurant and the breakfasts are very good. The children's menus are reasonable value. Service has always been top class and it remains open during the afternoon for coffees and excellent deserts. Locally owned places like Caffe Piccolo and La Mirage may be better and cheaper but aren't in the right location.
